1. Who we are and how to contact us
QB Building Solutions provides building services in Belper and across Derbyshire. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use this website, contact our team or discuss a project, including enquiries about QB Groundworks and QB Demolition. We are responsible for the information you provide to us and use it in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
For privacy enquiries or requests about your information, email info@qbbuildingsolutions.com or call 07464 214327. You can also request details for sending correspondence by post through these contact channels.
2. The information we collect
Depending on your enquiry or project, we may receive:
- Your name, email address, telephone number and property or project address.
- Details of the work you are considering, including plans, photographs and information you choose to share.
- Correspondence, quotations, agreed work, site visit arrangements and project records.
- Invoice and payment-reference information needed to administer work and keep accounting records.
Our website host also receives technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as your IP address, requested pages and access times. The website does not collect payment card details or provide an online enquiry form. Please contact us by phone or email and share only information relevant to your project; avoid sending sensitive personal information unless we have agreed an appropriate way to handle it.
3. Where information comes from
We usually receive information directly from you. We may also receive relevant contact or project details from someone acting on your behalf, or from a designer, contractor or other person involved in your project. Where required, we explain how we obtained that information and how we use it.
4. Why we use information
We use personal information for the following purposes and lawful bases:
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Discussing work or preparing a quote at your request | Taking steps before entering into a contract with you |
| Arranging and delivering work agreed with you | Performance of our contract with you |
| Responding to general enquiries, liaising with business contacts and coordinating projects | Legitimate interests in communicating with customers and organising our services |
| Keeping accounting, tax and other legally required records | Compliance with legal obligations |
| Protecting our website and business, handling disputes and establishing or defending legal claims | Legitimate interests in security and protecting our business and customers |
| Publishing identifiable photographs or customer comments where we ask for permission | Your consent for the agreed use |
We use the contract basis where the contract is with you personally. Where you represent a business, we generally rely on legitimate interests for business communications. When using legitimate interests, we consider the necessity of the processing and balance our interests against your rights.
Sending an enquiry does not sign you up to unrelated marketing. This website has no newsletter sign-up. If we seek consent for a particular use of your information, you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us.
5. Providing information
We need sufficient contact details and project information to respond, prepare a quotation and arrange work. If you do not provide necessary information, we may be unable to help with your request. We will explain what is needed when discussing your project.
6. Sharing information
Where necessary, we share relevant information with providers supporting our website, email and business administration; trades, contractors and suppliers involved in your project; and professional advisers such as accountants, insurers and legal advisers. We may also disclose information to public authorities where required by law, or where necessary to protect legal rights.
We limit sharing to information needed for the relevant purpose. Providers processing information on our behalf must protect it appropriately. Other recipients may be responsible for their own use of information under their own privacy notices. We do not sell your personal information.
7. Website resources and external services
Our own images, fonts and styles are served locally by this website. The Instagram feed loads resources from external services as described below. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub receives technical information when your browser requests a page or other resource and logs and stores visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, whether or not they are signed into GitHub. See GitHub’s privacy statement.
The Projects page uses Behold to display Instagram project updates. Loading the feed connects your browser to Behold and the services delivering its images or videos. These services receive technical request information, including your IP address and browser information, to deliver the feed. Behold states that its widgets do not install cookies or track visitors. See Behold’s widget information and privacy policy. Following a post link to Instagram takes you to an external service governed by Meta’s privacy policy.
The contact page links to Google Maps rather than loading an embedded map. Following that link takes you to Google’s service, which has its own privacy policy. Other external websites and social platforms also handle information under their own policies.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our own website code does not set cookies, use browser storage, or load analytics tools or advertising pixels. The Projects page includes a Behold Instagram feed; Behold states that its widgets do not install cookies or track visitors. Our hosting service and feed providers receive technical requests as described above; this is separate from storing information on your device. External sites you choose to visit may use their own cookies and privacy controls.
If optional cookies or similar technologies are introduced, we will explain their purpose and seek consent before using them where required by law. Browsing the website will not be treated as consent. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
9. International processing
Website, email or other service providers may process information outside the UK. Where we transfer personal information to a country requiring additional safeguards, we must use the protections required by UK data protection law, such as an applicable adequacy arrangement or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information or to request a copy.
10. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Retention depends on the nature of the enquiry or work, applicable legal obligations and whether information is needed to resolve a dispute.
| Record type | How retention is determined |
|---|---|
| Enquiries and quotations that do not lead to work | Whether the enquiry remains active and information is still needed for follow-up |
| Customer correspondence, contracts and project records | Completion of the work, continuing responsibilities and applicable claim periods |
| Invoices and payment records | Applicable accounting and tax record requirements |
| Technical and security records | Operational and security needs and the hosting service’s retention arrangements |
| Publication permissions and identifiable photographs or comments | The duration of the agreed use and any need to retain evidence of permission |
We review information and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed. Records may be kept longer where a legal obligation or an ongoing dispute requires this. Copies in backups are removed through the relevant backup rotation arrangements.
11. Keeping information secure
We take appropriate technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, and limit access to those who need it for their work. No online transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
12. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- Request access to your personal information.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Ask for information to be deleted or its use restricted.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Receive certain information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it.
Your right to object: You can object to our use of your information based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation. We will stop that processing unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed for legal claims. You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. To object, email or call us using the contact details above.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Other rights are subject to legal conditions and exemptions.
To make a request, contact us using the details above. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month and without a fee; lawful extensions or pauses may apply, which we will explain where relevant.
13. Automated decisions and children
This website does not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. Our website and services are intended for people enquiring about building work. If you believe a child has supplied personal information unnecessarily, please contact us so we can review it.
14. Questions and complaints
Please contact us first if you have a question or concern about how we handle your information so we can investigate and respond. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator. Visit the ICO complaints page or call 0303 123 1113.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, website or information handling change. The latest version will appear on this page with its updated date. Where appropriate, we will draw significant changes to your attention.
